is this card better?
Well first off, any laptop will only last for a maximum of four years. I know people will say they’ve had theirs for 10 years but for what you want, unless your a computer geek, which you obviously are not, it will only last 3,4 maybe 5 years. If yhou need 6 or 7 years out of it check out a desktop. But dell’s are made to high quality standards, have one of the top warranty programs out there and the computer will definatley be able to handle your tasks. The only thing, youre going to kick yourself in the a$s if you stick with the wireless card you posted. Get a wireless n, in 2 years wireless g will be totally phased out. Wireless N is the fastest longest range and most reliable wireless internet option. I would also upgrade to the 6-cell battery which will give you a much longer life on a single charge. Other than that it looks good for you
How do you find your twitter account without signing in?
I lost the password to my twitter account and I really want to see the things I posted on there. Sadly, no one followed me except me and a couple of my friends. Now I want to find my twitter page but there’s no real twitter user search. What can I do?
If you have forgotten your password, go onto the homepage and click the sign in drop down button. There will be a link saying ‘Forgotten your password?’. Click it and type in your email address or username and they will send you instructions to get your password via email.
If for some reason you do not want to/can not do this then if you can remember your twitter username, you can type in www.twitter.com/[your username] and that will be your page. If not you may have to make another twitter account with a different email (which can be easily made on www.msn.com) and then search for your old account on there using the ‘Find People’ button.
Social Media Marketing- the Top 10 Mistakes People Will Make in Social Media in 2009
Here we go again!\
Another year and another great possibility! With the election of Obama to the presidency, there is Hope and all are looking for a great future.
But I am sitting here thinking of all the folks in social Media that are going to be frustrated again in their social Media marketing efforts. wondering why they are not getting the traction or friends that they thought they should. And the main reason is that they continue to make the same mistakes in Social Media as last year.
Are YOU going to do that- I sure hope not. You may not have the power of a Robert Scoble, or the personality of a Gary Vanyerchuck, or the mind of a Chris Brogan, or the networking focus of a Mari Smith or Coach Deb micek. Or even the amazing writing talent of a Scott Monty.
At least not yet.
But you CAN accelerate your Social Media Success this year by avoiding these top 10 mistakes made by people in Social media in 2009.
Ok…what are they?
1) Lack of Consistent Visibility.
You cannot make a path and create a presence in Social Media, without CONSISTENTLY being SEEN and HEARD with your message. Ask Carrie Wilkerson. Or Timothy Carter. NOT going to happen. That is why that you MSUT create a Presence on the web DAILY- and be seen and heard as part of the community. A tree does not grow part time. It must be consistent in it’s efforts. It is the saem with your Social Media marketing.
2) Focusing too much on being heard.
LISTEN first- THEN talk. Social Media is about Listening to what is being said- by your prospects and customers- and social media in general. You would never enter a party or social event and immediately start yelling out what you wanted to talk about.
Neither should you in Social Media. LISTEN and then LEARN- and then Let your voice be heard- ONLY as a part of the existing conversation. Your time to start the conversation will come.
3) Taking, instead of GIVING to the Social Media Community.
Ahhhhh- lots of takers out in the Web 2,0 world. But NOT YOU. GIVE first. Give Value. Give Suggestions. Give Advice. Give ideas. Give Encouragement. Give News. Give New Possibilities. Give Words of Gratitude. But do NOT take relentlessly. You will be shunned and labeled as such.
If you REALLY want to create powerful influence- GIVE. How does that work?
GIVE = Gain Influence Very Easily. Give FIRST – and you will never come in Second.
4) Not Joining groups.
Groups are where you can have some of the greatest growth and learning. I belong to a ton of groups. Why? Because of 2 reasons: 1) I learn a lot from other people. 2) I CONNECT with the folks in the group.
Groups are a “secret weapon” that you should use on as many social sites as you can. They will not only Enlarge you- but also the possibilities that the group can bring to your life.
5) Not attending Events.
Events ROCK. And you should be attending at leat 1 event a week to do 2 things: 1) Become more Visible. 2) To learn from people that know things you do not.
Events are what i call the “Hidden University” of social Media. You can learn a LOT and grow a lot from events.
Look at the events that interest you. And pick on event that mildly interests you. And see if you can learn something even from that event. I have an event journal. and every event that i attend- i keep a log of what was said so i can review it later. You may want to do the same.
6) Not enough VALUE in what they are doing.
Value RULES in Social Media. And we train on what we call “Surprising Value.” This is the type of Value that is so great and unexpected that it surprises the person that discovers it. Put More Value in your POSTS. Put more Value in your PODCASTS. Put more Value in your Conversations. Put more Value in your Articles. Put More Value in your Recommendations. Put More Value in YOU and what you bring to the Social Media table.
Value RULES. And the one with the MOST value at the end of the day- reigns.
7) Joining Too Many Social Media sites.
There are about 3,600 Social Media sites. You need maybe 5-7. You read that right. You need 5-7 PRIMARY Social Sites. Then you need maybe 25-30, or even 50 Secondary sites for Link Building and traffic purposes. The main sites that you should be a part of- is up to you. My ‘Big 7″ are facebook, twitter, youtube, LinkedIn, Stumbleupon, Plaxo, and Wordpress- along with mashable. These are the CORE of my Social Media Marketing.
Do I belong to more? Heavens yes- a LOT more’ but have automated those through ping.fm and other social software.
Do NOT try and be seen on a hundred sites. Facebook alone can keep you busy with over 200 million people. The same with myspace, or friendster. Master ONE site while mastering social media and then another, and then another, until you have YOUR “Big 7.” And then automate the rest.
Focusing too much on Monetizing Social Media.
Nothing wrong with monetization on the internet. We do it a LOT- and daily. But focusing too much on that in social media- is , well…not cool. People do not mind knowing about an offer, or new info product. But how about giving some VALUE first with it- then invite them to an event- and then at the end of the conference call or webinar-give them a chance to purchase your produst.
What do I see daily? Urls and messages SELLING SELLING SELLING! Whew- wish that would not happen so blatantly. It has gotten better, but if you have a great content rich info product- here is a novel idea: GIVE part of the info away FIRST’and let the person ASK you for the product if they like it.
Hmmm….that just might be an idea worth considering.
9) Thinking that You are Nobody and Social Media Success is for other people.
Ask Chris Brogan. Ask Scott Monty. Ask Alejandro Reyes. Ask Brian Solis. Ask Dave Taylor. Ask Shama Hyder. EVRYONE has a great possibility to becoming SOMEBODY in Social Media. THAT is the beauty of the culture. Everyone who contributes Value and Connection- is more than welcome to achieve whatever they want. Chris Brogan once had 10 readers of his blog. Now he has almost 40,000 people following him on twitter alone. Brian Clark of copyblogger fame once had 10 readers. So did Scoble. So did Monty. So did Shama. And the list is endless.
There is GREATNESS inside of you-and there is NO BETTER place than Social Media to unleash it upon the world. You ARE Somebody- and always have been. YOU are a Social Media Rockstar- in training!
10) Not Branding Yourself Strong Enough.
Branding is a tool that we all use in Social Media. It is WHO YOU ARE- and what people remember about you. It could be a phrase-”Just Do It (TM)”- or a slogan- “”We’ve Got You Covered.” Or even a questions- “Can You Hear me Now?” or just a Name-”Trump.”
You need to get a slogan or phrase that you can start wrapping in your messages. You need to get an image that speaks what you want the public to see and know. And you need to decide -what is the ONE THING I want people to think of FIRST- when they think of me and my company? THAT is the start of a good brand build. Do not be just another face in the web 2.0 world. Set yourself apart and above the fray with a brand that rocks. We teach what is called “Connection Branding” and we have saying:
“Do NOT just be known or remembered- become UNFORGETTABLE.” ™
THAT is what you need to do!
These are the top 10 mistakes people will make in Social Media in 2009. Yes, i Know there are others- but these are the ones that i see as the most prevalent in Social Media marketing.

Internet Marketing Tactics for These Tough Times (from Google and Me!)
Copyright (c) 2009 Titus Hoskins
As we enter into what many enlightened souls are calling the most dire economic times since the Great Depression, online marketers need all the help they can get – regardless of the source. You have probably heard of Google; but chances are almost 100% certain, you have never heard of me. Lucky you!
Actually, the only thing you need to know about me is that I am a full-time online affiliate marketer and I make a very comfortable living from the web. Last year (2008), was my best year online so far, which left me scratching my head and saying what recession?
But that may be something of a false positive, as I will never know how much I could have made if the economic times had been good instead of bad. Plus, judging from my own limited experience, selling and marketing online may not have been hit as hard as those businesses in the real world in 2008, since consumers are doing everything to save a penny and shopping online has become a much cheaper alternative for many.
As we enter into these uncertain times, online marketers and webmasters need all the help they can get. Recently, Google mailed a small booklet to its Adsense users; in it Google gives “6 Top Tactics For Tough Times.” It is obviously referring to its Adwords PPC (Pay Per Click) program and clients but Google’s advice can be applied to your own general online marketing.
These tactics include: (quoting directly from the Google mail-out)
1. Focus your ads on low prices and savings.
2. Use Value-related keywords.
3. Ensure your ad groups are targeted and relevant.
4. Don’t waste money on irrelevant clicks.
5. Make it easy for customers to buy.
6. Focus your money on your high-performers. (End Quote)
Sound advice and I especially like the idea of focusing your marketing on low prices and savings mainly because people want bargains in tight economic times. I also like the fact that you must make it easy for your customers to buy… something as simple as putting your “order/buy link” above the fold can increase your conversions.
Also, targeting value-related keywords, is a very effective marketing tactic. Relating your keywords to “discounts, bargains, cheap, inexpensive, lowest prices…” will help increase your sales. So too, is catering to phrases that suggest the searcher is in a buying mind-set: gifts, presents, gift ideas, wedding gifts… shoppers searching those words are ready to buy.
Plus, focusing your time and money on your high-performers is solid advice. Sometimes succeeding online is simply finding a market niche that works/performs – then running with it. Once you have found the keywords and products that perform well with your site or sites – focus the majority of your time and energy developing those niche markets.
Now here are some of my most effective marketing tactics that have worked for me and tactics I will be relying on in the coming years – even in these hard times.
o Make Keywords Your #1 Goal
This is the single most important factor for my own online success. You have to make keywords and ranking high for them in all the search engines your main objective if you’re marketing online. Might sound obvious, but many beginning marketers don’t truly understand how important getting top rankings for your chosen keywords will be in your online success.
Target less competitive long tail (multi-worded) keywords to get started and slowly work your way up to more popular keywords. Center your marketing around getting those first page listings (Top Five) for your keywords. Achieve this goal, (especially in Google) and it will be almost impossible for you not to succeed and make a profit with your online marketing even in bad times.
o Autoresponders, List Building & Online Relationships
Keeping in contact with potential buyers is mission critical. You must use autoresponders to send follow-up messages to build trustful relationships with your potential customers.
So building a large contact list is essential. That’s why the social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace can be very effective marketing tools for building this online contact and trust. Truth be told, all these social networks are, more or less, just glorified autoresponders and list builders!
o Your Unique Selling Position
You must give potential customers some very good reasons for them to buy from you or your links. Offering special bonuses and discounts works wonders for your sales. Some of my most successful pages simply consists of coupons and discounts offered by different companies. If buyers can save $100’s OFF by buying thru your links, they will.
Always remember, besides looking for the best deal or bargain, consumers are also looking for a quality product. If you’re into affiliate marketing, only pick top quality products to promote. Picking top brand names also makes it easier to make sales. So too is only promoting popular online merchants like Amazon, can be an effective marketing strategy. Most importantly, always remember consumers are also looking for INFORMATION on the products they are considering buying, give them helpful information and you will succeed.
o Go With The Flow
If you’re marketing online, you have to follow what’s working for you. Most times you will try countless ideas or tactics – once you have found a process or system that works, really work it or scale it up. Making your first dollar is the hardest, but once you do something that earns you that dollar, just repeat that “something” a thousand times.
Tracking what works is very important so keep a close eye on your site’s traffic logs to find where your customers are coming from. Something like Google Analytics is simply priceless for “fine-tuning” your site and your online marketing. It will tell you what’s working and what’s not.
o Target Recurring or Residual Income
One of my most effective marketing strategies is to promote and sell products and services that give you a recurring or residual income. Make one sale and get paid for years or for the life of that referred client. Concentrate on services like web-hosting, telephone, marketing programs… once customers sign up to these services, they will likely keep them for years. I am still earning income from sales I made five years ago.
Building a large residual income could be the key to surviving in tough economic times. This will be income which will carry you or your business over the rough patches since it is based upon past performance and not on your current selling situation.
o Automate Everything
The real beauty of marketing online and using computers… you can automate just about every process in your marketing system. Make it a point of automating everything you do… use autoresponders to follow-up with potential buyers, use automatic check-outs, automatic reporting… just set-up your whole online marketing system that runs itself with little or no supervision from you. This will free up your time to concentrate all your efforts on marketing/promoting your site or product. Besides, nothing beats coming back from a vacation and finding out you have earned the cost of your vacation and then some – all the while you were lying in the sun and miles away from any computer.
o Find The Top Online Marketers
If you’re just starting with online marketing, you need to find the top successful marketers and “model” what they’re doing. This is relatively a new industry and you have to seek out the experts and pioneers who have set the groundwork. When I first started marketing online, I was quite fortunate to come into contact with some web marketing heavy-weights such as Marlon Sanders, Ken Evoy, Neil Shearing… and SEO experts like Brad Callen and Aaron Wall.
o Make Google Your Friend
Whether you love or hate Google doesn’t matter, you just have to make it your number one ally in your online marketing. Google has just about conquered the world-wide search market, Yahoo and MSN are still important, but Google is the deal-breaker when you’re selling stuff online. Consumers have enormous respect for Google, a number one listing for a lucrative keyword simply means money in the bank.
I have found using Google Search, Google Adwords, and Google Adsense have played a more than significant role in the success of my own online sites and marketing. Google tools such as Google Analytics, Google Alerts, Webmaster Tools… all have been invaluable and an enormous help in achieving my “web-based” lifestyle and livelihood. Of course, Google has also driven me around the bend more times than I can count, but no one is perfect. Besides, when it’s all said and done, anyone marketing on the web must truly embrace Google if they want to reach their highest level possible.

Right phone for me…?
I’m a 13 year old girl in the market for a cell phone; I’m getting rid of my old TracFone. I need something that runs on Verizon, that’s my only option. I text a lot. I use Facebook and Twitter quite often. I like multiple apps, and it’s great when they’re free. I suck with touch screens. I like the new Droid though- I’m seriously considering it even though it has a touch screen. My price range isn’t quite sky high, but I don’t have to limit myself too badly. If someone could guide me to a good phone, that’d be great! Thanks guys!
-Katherine
P.S. I’ve already seen the EnV3. It’s great, but I’m not a fan of the outside look. I like big screens. Thanks!
Thanks for the reminder- I need a QWERTY keyboard. The other ones are hard for me. Thanks!
If you like big screens, go for the Nokia N97 – its got a touch screen but also a slide out QWERTY keyboard (not sure how you are with those?). Its a really really good phone. http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/devices/nokia-n97

A good way to find followers by hitting up a Twitter train that will have you follow people, but then have others follow you. Worked very well for me.

Bosco Anthony From Front to Back
My mind was blown yesterday… I received a phone call from Bosco Anthony expecting to conduct a short 30-minute interview about him and his company. What I received instead was the best hour and a half marketing and online entrepreneurship lesson of my life! At the age of 26, Bosco Anthony is already a true business professional who has the knowledge and tools to grow your business, guaranteed.
Â
His Company
Â
Fresh off the blocks, Bosco Anthony started his online consulting business, BoscoAnthony.com, less than two and a half months ago in October 2008. Modestly referring to himself as a Business Growth Strategist instead of CEO, Bosco Anthony is dedicated to business owners who want to expand and accelerate their business.
Â
His assortment of professional experience allows Bosco to be extraordinarily versatile in the services he provides. Everything from business development to sales training and offline marketing to search engine optimization, Bosco Anthony will grow your business. He already has 33 regular clients and receives 15 new prospects every month. Each one of his clients approach him the same way, âThis is my business, make it better.â
Â
His Personal History
Â
Born and raised in Tanzania, Africa, Bosco grew up from humble beginnings. At the optimistic age of 19, he moved to Vancouver, Canada where he currently resides. Upon arriving over almost half-a-world from home, Bosco received his first job at a call center. During his first month on the job, he failed to make a single sale. This fruitless month made Bosco realize he had to change. Bosco stated, âYou have to be outgoing, you have to represent your company!â He managed to sell over $1 million of timeshare properties that year.
Â
Seven years and several jobs later, Bosco realized something else. By being true to his word and working hard, he could start his own successful business, BoscoAnthony.com.
Â
3 Promises to Himself
Â
Prior to beginning operations, Bosco Anthony made three promises to himself and his business:
Â
- Get on top of Google for free. With the ultimate goal of writing a book about his entrepreneurial success, it is very important that he not spend any money on avertising.
- Be open and adaptable. Bosco Anthony’s business model revolves around the concept of accepting and adapting to change. He reads several hours every day to sustain his primary competitive advantage, his knowledge.
- Eventually automate his entire business. Efficiency is key to running a successful business. By automating his business, Bosco will be able to spend more time satisfying his customers.
Â
To sum up these three promises, he enlightened me with a quote by Brian Tracy, “Your biggest asset is your learning potential and your biggest resource is your time.”
Â
Top 3 Traffic Generating Tactics
Â
BoscoAnthony.com is only a few months old, yet it receives anywhere from 200-500 daily visits and has an Alexa ranking of about 1.4 million (October 2008 Alexa ranking was 29 million). Bosco credits the explosive growth of his website to three main tactics.
Â
- Article writing and sharing. As part of Bosco’s daily routine, he writes articles relative to his business and posts them on sites like ArticlesBase.com, EzineArticles.com and eHow.com.
- Social networking. Something Bosco really emphasizes is that people are doing business on social networking sites like Facebook.com, Bebo.com and Twitter.com. These sites are no longer just places for friends.
- Multimedia. Bosco described multimedia as the next golden nugget for creeping up Google’s rankings. Audio and video will be a huge factor in the future BoscoAnthony.com.
Â
Top 3 Challenges for Small Business
Â
When a small business runs into a wall, it has to climb over that wall to get to the next level. Bosco elaborated on the three main challenges small businesses must overcome.
Â
- Mental discipline. Procrastination is the #1 killer of business. Small business owners, especially, need to sustain their mental discipline in order to be successful.
- Fear of commitment. Many of BoscoAnthony.com’s potential clients come to him and say they want to improve their businesses but they are not willing to pay much. But he assures them, “If you don’t fix the problems, you will lose money.”
- Guidance. The last challenge that many businesses face is they do not have sufficient guidance. You wouldn’t travel in a foreign country without a map, treat your business the same way.
Â
Customers Should Know
Â
Bosco Anthony was a true gentleman during our conversation and more than that, he genuinely wanted to help. He is a down-to-earth, stand-up guy who will cater to the needs of any business. From the tone of his voice to the content of his words, I could tell Bosco lives an enthusiastic life and runs his business the same way. Take action with your business! www.BoscoAnthony.com

Methods to Use Twitter Creatively
Twitter is not just a free social networking site but is also a great marketing tool and can be used in many other ways. This article will explain you some of the creative ways to use Twitter.
For starting, set up a Twitter account. Make sure that your profile has your picture, a short biography of yours with an attached link to your website. After this, I suggest doing a search for your friends on Twitter. The search is focused towards finding the people whose updates you want to follow, people that relate to you and your business. Spamming while promoting your business through updates on Twitter strictly needs to be avoided, as people do not like spamming.
Twitter could also be used directly to post updates, but there are other sites also where one can do this. Tweetlater is one such website, which allows users to schedule their future updates/tweets, and acts as a great timesaver for the people who donât have much time to post regular updates on Twitter throughout the day. It allows you to save a customized welcome message which is automatically sent to the new followers on tweetlater as well. Try to keep your updates interesting.
Another great time-saving option is provided by the websites like Hellotxt or Jabber which allows users to send updates not only on Twitter but on other social networking sites like facebook, dig as well at the same time. One can send their followers direct private messages; which allow them to meet and network with new people.
Linking twitter with your blog, Squidoo: explore lenses, Facebook or MySpace accounts and many other websites is another creative method of using twitter. When you send an update on Twitter it is automatically also sent to your followers on these other linked sites. Bloggers can use Twitter Feed to post blog updates and articles in their twitter account. When one of your articles goes live it automatically sends an update to all your followers on twitter. For using Twitter Feed you just need to log in using your open id and then put in the URL of your blog feed, and how frequently you want to post it to twitter.
These were some of the ways in which you can use twitter creatively and for promoting your business.

5 Reasons Why Your Company Should Twitter
There are at least a dozen reasons why your company should twitter. I’m going to focus on five of those here, and hopefully open the doors to further discussion in the near future.
Reason #1: Immediacy
Think of the benefits of immediate access to your target audience and customers. Announce product recalls and avoid lawsuits. Answer customer questions on the spot. Engage with non-followers who mention your product, company, or competitors. Reward followers with incentives. Announce sales and links to quarterly earnings. Immediacy gives you to reach your audience now.
Examples:
- Last minute push to complete a fundraiser
- Traffic updates
- Leaking info about the upcoming release of a new product
- Posting links to your latest article or press release
- Answering customer questions so quick, they feel valued as a customer.
Reason #2: Influence
Hundreds, possibly thousands, of people are asking themselves and others for recommendations on products and services. Every second of the day, someone is using Twitter to ask for recommendations. How much easier can it get to build your customer base? Be there to answer their questions and make a winning first impression.
Example Questions Being Twittered Right Now:
- “What’s the best joint pain reliever medicine?”
- ” What’s the best place to grab a drink around pike place market?”
- “What’s the best book you’ve most recently read?”
- “What’s the best airline website you’ve ever used?”
- “What’s the best mobile broadband in Ingerland?”
- ” What’s the best Twitter app for the iPhone right now?”
- “What’s the best ad service for a blog do you reckon? Or is adsense still great?”
- “What’s the software product that can best be described as “Powerpoint on Steriods”? Not web based software”
Â
As you can see, anything goes. People just want information. They want recommendations. Someone who has used the product or service can offer their experience. Think about that. There are some creative solutions and approaches there.
Reason #3: Reputation
In the 21st Century, you don’t have days to respond to a negative story about your company. You may not even have hours. Twitter provides an immediacy of information unprecedented in the history of the world.
Example: While in Dallas a few weeks back, I heard about the earthquake in the San Francisco Bay Area thirty minutes before most people right next door in Los Angeles. Geographic proximity as an influencing factor is now irrelevant to the equation of immediacy. As long as someone twitters it somewhere in the world, you can catch the latest news within seconds.
The downside to this immediacy is the lighting fast spread of negative news. Rumors of bankruptcy, scandal, or defective products hit the wire and thousands of people are sharing the news with their friends before you’ve ever heard a word. If it’s newsworthy, it’s going to be twittered. If you’re not monitoring Twitter and presenting your company’s face and position to the world there, your company is vulnerable to viral attack.
Reason #4: Exposure
While there are no guarantees that someone you follow on Twitter will reciprocate and follow you back, following a person or organization is like a notification of existence. It says, “Here I am! Check me out and see if I’m worth following back.” Each user is typically notified via email of each new follower, thus giving them an opportunity to review new followers and possibly reciprocate the follow.
By searching Twitter for users within a specific geographic area or by the topics of their conversations, any organization can cherry-pick their friends based on common goals or interests. This is the easiest method of increasing exposure I’ve ever heard of.
Reason #5: Traffic
Your company has a website. And you want people to visit it, if not purchase something or contact you through it. With Twitter, you can increase traffic to your site simply by engaging others.
Methods for Increasing Traffic:
- Answer other people’s questions
- Poll for opinions
- Post links to your newest articles
- Announce sales
- Recommend other Twitter users to your audience, thereby engendering appreciation
