Expose yourself (decently) to the World
Imagine you had a traditional âbricks ânâ mortarâ business. You know the type, like some kind of store that sold…well, anything really, the type of business, doesnât matter. Okay, so you have this store and you sell great products, you also deliver the best service in town…cool.
But, if your store is hidden out of sight, say up a side street (not on the main street)and even worse, you never advertised, then how many people or potential customers do you think might wander in on a daily basis? Iâm guessing, not very many.
To make money, you need sales, to make sales, you need customers (genius eh?) and to get customers you need exposure. They need to know where you are, you need to let yourself be seen.
Okay, now letâs relate this to your online business. Your customers coming in the door in the above example is your âTrafficâ. No traffic, no sales. No sales, no money. No money, no fun. So, ask yourself this question;
âWhat is the one thing we ALL need to make money on the Internet?â
The answer?….TRAFFIC.
It doesnât make any difference what line of business you are in, or what product you sell. You need âeyeballsâ, you must get people to your website.
Now, you probably know as I do that there are loads and ,loads of methods for directing traffic to your website. But what I want to talk about here in particular, is âSocial Trafficâ.
Probably one of the most underestimated and funnest (is that a word?) ways to flood your website with âeyeballsâ. And best of all is…itâs FREE.
Now, you might be totally new and starting out on the internet, or you may have used some of these social networking sites but never thought of how you might be able to turn your friends into potential cash.
Before we go any further here, let me be clear so that you understand this. Iâm not suggesting that you look at these sites or use them for the sole purpose of getting business…NO, that would be wrong and possibly get you banned at some point.
The whole point is to use these sites and have a bit of fun. Meet new âlike mindedâ people, chat about you, them and life. Help people if they need help with anything, offer advice when needed. And whilst doing so, expose yourself (in a decent manner of course). Let your network of new found buddies know what youâre about and where they can find your website.
The fact is, there are literally hundreds of MILLIONS of people using these social sites every single day…WOW! Imagine that, I mean actually picture that for a moment. Thatâs a lot of eyeballs. Imagine just a fraction of those people heading over to check out what youâve got. Sites like MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter, Digg, Propeller etc.
You can get an enormous amount of traffic very quickly if you use these sites properly.
If youâre totally new, well, look at it this way. Social Marketing sites are a sort of meeting place, a kind of âcentral hubâ to hang out together and reach great people across the planet….very powerful indeed.
If all the people in your network like what your saying or like what youâve got, then theyâll spread the word and share it with their network and so on and so on. Are you starting to see the potential now?
WARNING though: If you donât provide great quality content, your buddies wonât want to share it with their network and you will be ignored, possibly penalized or even worse… banned!
You need to know the secrets of how to set up your profiles properly and the best way to use these different sites in the way they were intended to be used.
Setting up âprofilesâ on these site is fairly easy and great fun, but it can be very time consuming finding your way around. So, how do you learn how to do all of this quickly, easily and properly?
There is a shortcut. A fantastic video guide called âSocial Traffic Explosionâ will take you by the hand and ease you through the whole process. But before you go off and buy these videos, why not make sure if they are for you or not.
Check and make sure that itâs what youâre looking for and if it can help you. You can do this for FREE by visiting http://www.yoursecretstowealth.com

Social Networking: How to Make it Work for Your Business
Copyright (c) 2008 Donna Gunter
It seems as though everywhere I turn I’m bombarded with information about some aspect of social networking — Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Twitter, Ryze, Fast Pitch…the list goes on and on. I’ve been quite slow to jump on the social networking bandwagon. I did create a MySpace profile about a year ago, and recently gave up on doing anything with it, as I wasn’t seeing any results. My new choice in the social networking arena is Facebook, which is where my target market appears to be hanging out.
Based on my use and evaluation of several of these platforms over the last few years, here’s my synopsis of the 3 primary social networking sites important for online business owners: Facebook, MySpace, and LinkedIn:
Facebook: This one is the current fad, with many people conducting teleclasses and coaching programs on how to best use it. I do like its clean interface and easy-to-read profiles. Many people, from all demographics, seem to be on Facebook. The service offers the ability to add friends by searching for high school/college classmates and by searching former/current colleagues in the workplace. The downside to the application is that you must have a Facebook account in order to view anyone’s profile. More and more plug-ins (small applications) are being added to Facebook every day that tweak how this application functions. If you’re an author or a business owner, Facebook permit you to add stand-alone pages about your business(es) or book(s) to your profile. Lastly, if you blog, you can plug your blog feed into your profile to update your friends from your blog every time you make a new post.
LinkedIn: This has been the steady, reliable, social networking platform that’s very career and job focused. Your profile consists primarily of your job history, without much flexibility to promote your business. If your target market consists of corporate types, this is probably the social networking platform for you. You have the ability to add connections in the same way that Facebook provides, and your connections have the ability to submit a recommendation about you if they wish.
MySpace: I still find MySpace the most annoying of all the social networking sites, and hear too many horror stories of MySpace stalkers and of people having to close accounts due to harassment by other users. This is still the domain of teen set, although most musicians and many artists successfully create followings here for themselves. MySpace offers many options to personalize and customize your profile, which renders many profiles virtually impossible to read. If your target market leans toward teens or creative types, this is the social networking site for you.
Here’s what I have learned along the way to make social networking a successful marketing strategy for your business:
1. Pick one platform. So many business owners spread themselves too thin by participating in several social networking sites. I’ve discovered that you could easily devote your entire day to this endeavor and never accomplish anything else. Pick the best platform that will get you in front of your target market and stick to it.
2. Determine your objective. How does this social networking task fit into your overall marketing strategy? What’s your objective — to sell more info products, to grow your list, to develop joint venture or strategic alliance partners? Determine your goal and remain focused on that goal in all that you do when spending your time to work your platform.
3. Work the platform. No marketing strategy will succeed unless you pay attention to it. In order to successfully use social networking, you need to work your platform every single day. Ideally, this means devoting 30-60 minutes each day on activities like seeking new friends/connections/, commenting on other people’s profiles, updating your own profile, and notifying your connections about your current activities.
4. Be patient. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and you won’t see results of your efforts in a day, either. This is a slow and steady process, much the same way that face-to-face networking is. You’ve got to be out there building relationships and helping others before you’re going to see your social networking goals realized.
5. Invite others. Don’t hide the fact that you’re playing in the social networking arena — invite your contacts to play along with you. Most platforms offer you the ability to send out these invitations from your contact database. Let your ezine subscribers and blog readers know as well — never pass up an opportunity to get to know your contacts.
Like it or not, social networking is here to stay. Follow these five tips to make social networking a marketing strategy that works for your online business.

I need a dynamic name for marketing purposes that uses my real name, or part of it. Any Ideas?
I use the internet to market my business. I would like to use my real name to set up Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, and similar accounts so that I can brand myself. My problem is that my name is so common! It is being used by other people already. I can’t use my own name to create accounts. I’m looking for a username I can use for these accounts that embodies all or part of my real name and is "catchy" or impactful and can be remembered easily. Is anyone out there creative enough to provide a great solution?
your favorite color, then robin (if that’s your name)
like blue robin
Ryan Engelberts E-Test Drop 2 system. Is it legit?
I have been seeing this training system from this one guy Ryan Engelbert, it is all over facebook, twitter, etc. I just want to know if there is anyone out there who has tried this training system and what the results were. If not, some good training programs that would mainly focus on explosion, speed, and things for football would be great.
yes, it is.
How can people follow me on Twitter when I don’t even have an account there?
I keep getting emails saying certain people are following me on Twitter and following my tweets. I don’t even have an account on Twitter. I have never even looked up the website. How can they follow me if I am not on there?
If there’s a link it tells you to click on in order to view your followers, check what the URL is. Odds are it’s phishing spam mail designed to get passwords from people who actually are on twitter. Sometimes I get emails from banks I have no accounts with, asking for my online banking info that doesn’t exist.
Another reason is if someone used your email address to register a twitter account. This could be someone who knows your email address, or someone who made a typo that matched yours.
Or you have multiple personality disorder and one of them is on twitter.
The New Watchmen Trailer Campaign
For the past week, some friends of mine gave me links to a video on you tube. As I open it, I begin to watch a very old looking news report: NBS Nightly News with Ted Philips, March 11th 1970. It features a super cheesy news report about Dr. Manhattan. The video is of course a fake news report. Itâs kind of watchmen trailer which seems to be a new campaign strategy for promoting the new watchmen movie coming this March. All I can say is that it very cool.
The campaignâs sort of headquarters is this site called New Frontiersman and employs social sites like Flicker and Twitter. Taking a look into this, I found a massive amount of posts and material that seems to have come from this alternate universe (the one where the Watchmen exists). Itâs splendid; you can get a hold of anything from pictures of the Apollo mission where doctor Manhattan is present in the moon, and you could also read old government files.
This I think would be a very successful marketing ploy, reminiscent of The Dark Knightâs dead joker campaign (they spread fake news of a dead guy dressed in a Joker costume). The Watchmen trailers are definitely following the footsteps of TDKâs huge success. Plus, the material is so smart and delicious; fan boys will piss their pants.
However, the difference between The Dark Knightâs web campaign and this Watchmen campaign is that TDK only used one or a few central sites, this Watchmen campaign is focused on getting out as much material into every possible web space available to it. Dan Light, is one of the leaders of this online watchmen trailer operation. He says that he would be hard pressed to come up with another example of a web campaign that is on the same level as this one. Light comments that campaign is flawless: itâs so organic in the way it uses core watchmen elements to enrich audience participation and appreciation at the same time.
The New Frontiersmen site got two hundred thousand hits in the first seven days of its launch. On the other hand, the Dr. Manhattan news video got viewed more than one hundred ten thousand times in its first day. Whatâs more remarkable is couple thousand blog entries about either video or site. This says a lot about the material. People only write or blog about things when they really want to spread the news.
I suppose these Watchmen trailer effort will be the new benchmark for other future movies. However, not all movies can be marketed this way. It of course depends on the material.

Personalize Your Message In Order To Make Money At Home Online
When running an online business, you need to focus on several different facets to actually succeed. You have to produce quality content, build a visually appealing web site, and advertise on a consistent basis. However, keep in mind you are doing all of this for the customer. For this reason, your number one concern when running a business needs to be on the customer.
A few years ago it was ok to focus on the product and overlook the customer’s needs and wants. Entrepreneurs used to be more focused on highlighting the features of their product or service while trying to make it as appealing as possible. Today, you have got to learn to focus on the customer and overlook your service completely.
Social sites have changed the way people try to make money at home online. There is much more emphasis put on interacting with the prospect and getting to know them rather than promoting the business. The reason for this is because competition is stiffer than ever before.
By promoting your business, you are simply putting your product up against millions of other web sites and businesses. If you take the time to interact with prospects, you can leave a lasting memory on them about who you are and what your priorities are. People like to feel good and know that others care about them.
This is where it pays off to take time to post in forums and network in social sites like Facebook and Twitter. Ask your target market and prospects questions about what interests them and what they are looking for. Truly get to know them and find out where they are coming from so that you can adjust your business to meet their needs and wants.
By personalizing your message and offering your time and ears, you will find that people will begin to respect you and ultimately trust your judgment. It is much easier to convert a prospect into a customer if they are a friend of yours as oppose to a complete stranger. And that is where it pays off to personalize your message and show you care.
The next time you go out to promote your business, stop promoting your product or service. Jump into some forums and meet new people in social sites. This is where you will truly get to know people, learn what they are looking for, and show them you actually care about them and are not just some small business owner looking to make money at home online through them.
