Social Networking and Your Home Business
If you have been in business at any time in your life then you have been involved in some type of networking. In decades past it was cocktails or dinner with a client or potential client. Networking has always played a role in marketing a business or business opportunity.
The latest marketing tools, are the social networking sites, such as MySpace, Facebook or the newest Twitter. More than half of all Americans from those in their early teens to those heading for retirement are active on one or more social networking site. More and more individuals are hosting their own blog to talk about themselves, the family or their business.
With technology and software becoming more user friendly, more people are using the Internet to stay connected with family and friends. They are blogging and using social networking sites to meet people around the globe. Individuals are using these sites to learn about products and services. It is similar to talking to friends and family for recommendations for everything from where to have dinner, shop or visit. It’s the “word of mouth” advertising that business crave and need to grow and prosper.
Business and marketers continually look for ways to improve and expand their client base. Social networking sites and blogs provide an avenue for these individuals to learn who their potential clients are on a personal level. You get to know them as individuals first and then as clients. It allows that personal touch which as been missing from business and from corporate America.
To use social networking sites effectively and to grow your business, individuals must remember that words have meaning and impact those reading them. How you use words can directly impact the growth or decline of your business. Many social sites promote a “free wheeling” atmosphere in conversations, therefore caution is advised in your conversations on those sites. It is important to remember that words linger on the Internet long after your “log off” a site. This written word is the presentation you have given of you and your business. It’s how you are representing yourself.
Social networking is about getting to know your potential clients and in turn letting them know who you are and what your business has to offer. It’s that human touch that, we as social creatures crave.
Many traditional marketers underestimate the power that social networking sites and blogs have on consumers. They also underestimate the role that these sites will continue to play in business and with the growth of businesses. With the growth of Blogs, Twitter, Squidoo and other social sites, those with online business or who are contemplating starting an online business must learn how to leverage these social networking sites to their advantage.
While more conventional marketing will continue to play a role in business and a marketing budget, marketers will need to be more fluid in their thinking and in their marketing techniques.

Server error with the android market?
Yesterday I got a motorola cliq xt and set everything up. I was able to use the market and everything that came along with the phone, but at some point yesterdy it suddenly stopped. Everytime I try to access the android market, I get a message saying "Attention: a server error has occurred." Now all I can do with the phone is text and make calls. Facebook and Twitter won’t update, google maps and gmail don’t load, and I get the same error everytime. Is it just a server issue with google?
Try restarting the phone.
If that doesn’t work then get in contact with your carrier.
Why is the war in Afghanistan not a topic of inquiry on Yahoo Answers?
A number of Americans have been killed in that war. It is one of the longest lasting wars that the US has been engaged in. Hundreds of billions of dollars have been spent.
Today Gen Petraeus took command — so the war is in the news. The large news organizations have heard of it.
But here on this 4th of July —- silence about that war. Not a single person has any comment, or question.
Is it so obvious to everybody that the war is a meritorious cause, that has made progress since nine years ago, that Karzai is a man of great righteousness, and if he wants to join the Taliban, as he says he does, that is his right?
Is it perfectly plain that the taxpayer is getting their money’s worth and that the war is not being fought entirely for the benefit of the big defense contractors?
Here’s what’s true — Petraeus said today that our purpose in Afghanistan is to prevent having that area be used as a sanctuary for terrorist training camps and planning attacks on the USA and other free nations.
OK, could terrorist training camps be visible from overhead viewing. If we can read the date on a dime, we can probably see a terrorist training camp, right? A camp is bigger than the date on a dime.
If we can find a camp where training is being done — isn’t there such a thing as missiles? Couldn’t we put fire and steel on the camp with missiles, or predators, or cruise missiles, or tomahawks, or ICBM’s or SLBM’s. I’ve seen pictures on TV of missiles, so I know there are such things. So why do we need to deploy troops on the ground in Afghanistan? What is our purpose? Is it to protect the local population from each other? Has any war ever been fought by any nation for such a purpose or is this the first one? Nation A goes to nation B 12,000 miles away, and fights a ground war to protect the local population from each other. Ever happen before? No? I wonder why not? Too crazy? Yeh, maybe.
Terrorist planning by the way is mostly done in apartments in Germany, not in caves in Afghanistan. You want a place where the lights go on when you flick the switch, and where you can order our for Pizza (but not with ham). Al Qaeda is poor, but not so poor that they can’t afford apartments in Germany, or other places. My point is that whether they are in caves or not in caves, there’s no reason to imagine that they would choose to do their planning in a place with such inadequate infrastructure as Afghanistan. Just getting food and water to them would attract much more attention in Afghanistan than in Hamburg.
So, this is a senseless war, with no valid purpose apart from income for the Big Contractors, who then send the envelopes to Capitol Hill. But it’s a war where 1% of the American people are being made to bear 100% of the dying costs and injury costs. So 99% of the People don’t have a stake, and don’t feel any interest in it as evidenced by this 4th of July on Yahoo where this is the only post that talks about it.
There’s been a generational change in USA. New values are in the hearts of the ipad/twitter people, who we used to call teeny boppers. Well, they are not teeny anymore, but they didn’t grow up to hold the same values that the old hippies did. On a day like today, with a war like Afghanistan going on, we would have a million people marching in Washington DC. We would peacefully and non-violently read out the names of the war dead. We would make political life hard for the government. They would have some policy explaining to do.
Now, who cares?
It’s surely not about the "blame game" in Washington DC, which party to blame, or which politician. We started in Afghanistan under Clinton who I’m sure you will recall fired four Tomohawks from an Aegis class Guided missile cruiser. These air breathers are easily visible, and they had to fly over several hundred miles of Pakistan (supposedly our allies), and people over there do have cellphones, so how long does it take Ali and Baba to scramble a few hundred yards and not be there when the missiles explode? Let’s say 5 minutes. And how long did they have of warning? About 30 minutes. Clinton never served, so he had absolutely no clue about the significance of surprize in winning military engagements. Or, maybe he really just didn’t want to hurt anybody. The gesture was symbolic not substantive.
Anyhow, blame is not where it’s at. The policy today is either correct and intelligent or incorrect and dumb. If dumb, then any person from any political party can gain credit by ending it
Rather interesting remarks Navy!. From the standpoint of the significance of Boots on
the ground. I have to agree with you. Training camps are going to be seen by eye in
the sky, and Ground Operatives. So really no need for troops on the ground. Predator
drones and AWAX aircraft could be far more deadly and much more significant.
But you know as well as I do. Why we are there. You know and I know that it has nothing
to do with freeing Afghanistan from theTaliban or any such Bullshit.
Approximately three trillion dollars worth of raw minerals. Taking possession of that
through a puppet government like Karzi would be the game as it is now being played.
This has all the earmarks of Viet Nam. and the Shell Geophysical Shoot done in 1957 in
the Gulf of Tonkin. We severly under estimated the resolve of the Ho Chi Minh. And
we got bogged down in our thirst for someone else’s oil. When the price became to high
in American life, Nixon pulled us Out.
Who will be the Nixon of this Era,
Was it the right thing to admit this to someone who could use it against me if I annoyed him enough?
I am a moderator on an internet forum based on a television programme and back in February a newcomer joined who showed a lot of interest in the programme at one point I offered to make a dvd for him on a documentary which he wanted, I kept saying it would be soon, or next week, or the week after but never sent it out to him. We had a falling out a few months back I decided to add him to my twitter account last week.
Away from the forum he can see how saucy I am theres a programme we both watch and I have admitted to liking this guy in this programme to the point of doing something quite adult and I have said a few things to the guy I promised the dvd to in response and how good I am at this certain skill i.e. giving oral sex. last night I got a bit drunk and we were talking about things on msn and now I realise I told him what my technique involving oral sex was and how I "OWN" at this kind of thing and said to him in confidence how I would do whatever it would take to get to the top by doing this act.
IF he has saved our msn convo then I hope he doesnt use it against me in anyway at all I told him the other day I would sort out the dvd for him he seems to believe that I am also being targeted by online bullies who know where I live but its nice to see that hes caring.

How can i see other peoples twitter statuses and replies on my phone?
I only know how to put my own statuses on to twitter from my phone. How do i get updates and replies texted to my phone. Cuz I don’t receive anything. I have to go online to read stuff.
Well it depends if you have a smartphone. if you have a smartphone you can check your updates at m.twitter.com via the phone browser.
if you have an old-school phone you can manually get your phone to receive text messages on the people your following everytime they update their status. if you are following a lot of individuals, this may get a little overwhelming (and maybe expensive).
but to manually set who’s updates you want to receive, go to your twitter settings page and activate your phone under devices. after that you can manually choose whos updates you want to receive as a text message.
Why do I keep losing followers on Twitter?
okay well one time I went all the way up to 80 followers
then the next day I came back with like 50. Then I worked
my way back up to 80, i just got it like last night and now
I checked my page, it said 59, how come I can’t go to over
80? I keep losing followers when i get there, please help?
Your followers might not have liked something you tweeted.
Your followers could have been spammers and got their accounts deleted.
