Free Writing – Four Tips to Make Blogging Work for You
Do you blog? If your answer is “No”, start blogging today, because if you’re a freelance writer and your name doesn’t show up in Google, your credibility is zero. Here’s how to get the most from your blog.
There’s more to blogging than you think. Forget considering your blog an online journal: your blog is a professional tool.
I could spend hours talking about the benefits of blogs for writers (and often do), but here are four tips to make blogging work for you.
1. Establish Your Portfolio Blog: Your “Name” Blog
The first blog (yes, you should have more than one) you need to establish is your “name” blog. So if your name is Milly Emmeline Smythe (which I hope is a fictitious name; I’m not referring to a real person), your blog would be titled Milly Emmeline Smythe.
As soon as anyone types your name into Google, your name blog should appear.
Big tip: please forget creative, cute names. Google and the other search engines are software programs; they have no concept of cleverness for the help www.bloggers-guide-to-profit.com. Your sole aim is for your name to show up as the first result in a search engine when a writing buyer types your name. If it does: instant credibility.
2. Use Social Media to Share Your Blog Posts
With millions of Web sites online, your blog needs links pointing to it so that people can find you.
The easiest way to get links is to use a couple of the many social media tools. Pick your favorites: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn… These tools can help you to get known via links, fast.
Another way to get known is to frequent forums.
3. Get Known on Forums Where You Can Get Hired
Stay away from writer’s forums. Your fellow writers, charming as they may be, can’t hire you. They may even harm your nascent career if you take their advice too much to heart. You’ll rarely find professional writers on writers’ forums: they’re too busy writing. However, you will find pro writers on forums for business owners, Webmasters and Internet marketers.
Adding a link to your “name” blog in your forum signature is an easy way of getting a link, and getting hired too. Capable freelance writers are in high demand on the Web.
4. Write About Your Favorite Topics (the Ones You Want to Get Hired to Write About)
New blogging writers tend to write about writing: it’s top of mind, and it’s what you know. However, it’s rarely the way to get hired to write.
Write about the topics you want to be hired to write about: parenting, business, technology…
Remember the search engines. Over time, your name should appear somewhere on the first page of the search results whenever someone enters search query terms like “writer”, “freelance” and “your topic.”
For example, if your pet topic is parenting skills for the help www.feed-reader-links.com, your name should appear whenever anyone types “writer parenting” into a search engine query field.
Use these tips to make blogging work for you to build your freelance writing career. There’s never been a better time to be a writer: you can make a great income, thanks to your blogs.Do you blog? How I Generate Over 200 Leads Every Single Month!
Leads are the life blood of any business. It doesn’t matter if you conduct business online or offline, high-tech or low-tech. If you want to stay in business, you have to make sales. And if you want to make sales, you need to be generating a steady flow of leads.
This article is going to show you EXACTLY how I generate an average of more than 200 leads each and every month.
The first step, of course, is to set up your AutoResponder. Your AutoResponder is the backbone to any lead generation and email marketing campaign.
Your AutoResponder can be as simple as setting up a single message that introduces your prospects to your company, lets them know what you have to offer, and invites them to your web site for more details (and to place an order).
Or you can set up a series of follow up messages that are scheduled to go out daily, weekly, monthly, etc… depending on your preferences and what your market is expecting.
Your letters don’t have to be perfect. They just need to be clear and ready to be sent out. You can (and should) make adjustments along the way.
Once your AutoResponder is set up with at least one message, then it’s time to start the work of promoting to attract visitors to your offer.
So here are the exact steps I take to generate a constant steady flow of leads for my offers:
1. I set up my AutoResponder with my follow up letters.
2. I set up my blog (Free).
3. Since my AutoResponder service offers free hosted capture pages, I also set up my hosted capture pages.
4. I set up my AutoResponder subscription forms and added them to:
My capture pages
My own web site
My blog
5. I set up Banner Ads and point them to a site with a subscription form such as my blog, my web site, or my capture page.
6. I set up my FFA Page Ad to send out an ad about my free report. When they click the link in that ad, they are taken to one of my capture pages.
7. I set up social networking accounts on sites like twitter.com, myspace.com, and facebook.com (Free).
8. I set up an author account at my two favorite article directories: (Free).
9. I make sure my Email Signature file has a link to either my web site, my hosted capture page, or my blog. (Free).
10. I join relevant discussion forums. A quick search on Google for forums related to your market or niche should give you a considerable list to start with. (Free).
11. I set up an AdWords account at Google.
So Why Do I Set Up All These Things and How Do I Generate Leads With Them?
My AutoResponder
This is the control center for all of your lead generation and contact management. This is where you will manage your leads. This is also where you will create, manage, and edit your follow up messages, broadcasts, etc…
My Blog
Blogging isn’t as scary as some people would like you to think it is. Think of your blog as your public journal where you can share your thoughts, experiences, updates, background, etc… Like social network sites, think of your blog as a place online where you are throwing a little ‘get together’ for your friends and associates. The attitude of your posts should be light, informative, entertaining, and relevant to what your business is about.
Personally, I use my blog to update associates and followers on what I’m doing to generate leads, how business is going, any new techniques or developments we’ve come up with, etc…
Notice that I’ve added a subscription form to my blog. As people read my posts, my hope is that they will want to know more and will fill out the form to request information.
Subscription Forms
Your AutoResponder isn’t going to do you any good if people don’t know how to request information. This is what your subscription forms are for and you want to make sure they are on every point of contact you have online.
Be sure you have added forms to your own web site, your blog, etc… Be sure you have created Hosted Capture Forms.
Banner Ads
I set up a few banners and point them back to my web site with the capture forms. The Banner Ads offer a free report or benefit and invite prospects to visit and request more information. I don’t really have to do anything with the banner ads once they are set up and this little auto-pilot tool typically brings me anywhere from 5 to 12 new leads each month.
FFA Page
I’ve been pretty clear that FFA Page leads aren’t for everyone. In my case, they work out well because most of these leads are people that want to sell something and I offer tools to help them market more effectively. The best part is that I just set the silly thing up and let it run. I get anywhere from 10 to 20 new leads a month from this option. I might check on it every couple of months to see if the responses are still consistent and make any changes that I think may be helpful.
Social Networking
This is, quite honestly, a new venture for me. I’m on twitter, MySpace, and Facebook. Like blogging, I think of these sites as little social gatherings (online parties). They can be fun and entertaining. I keep up with friends and associates and, in general, just make sure I make regular appearances to keep everyone updated.
NOTE: There is a little bit of an “art” to working blogs and social networking sites. Don’t be one of those people that shows up at the party and says, “Hey! Wanna buy my stuff?”. Take some time to build rapport. Get to know other participants in your networks. Participate in some of the conversations. Let people get to know you. As your network begins to learn about you, the time will come when someone is thinking, “Hey … I need to find someone that can …… ” and that is when they think of you.
For example: Let’s say you sell pink widget gizmos. As you’re getting to know people in your networks, your profile states that you are the premier supplier for pink widget gizmos. You conduct yourself in a responsible and professional manner on the various networks you are a part of. People start to like and trust you. Someone asks, “Hey… do you know where I can get some really good pink widget gizmos?” and they or their other friends in their network will remember that YOU are the go-to person for pink widget gizmos.
Article Marketing
Going back to our pink widget gizmos story, because you know something about them, I bet it’s a safe bet to say that you could probably write a few articles about them. Article marketing is a great way to:
* Establish your credibility as an expert in your field.
* Get free publicity.
* Get free back links to your web site.
If you are not comfortable writing just yet, do a quick search for “ghost writers” on any major search directory.
Make a point of creating and submitting articles regularly.
Not sure if article marketing works? You’re reading some of my article marketing, right now.
Email Signature File
Just about every email program I’m aware of has an Email Signature option. This is where you can create a bit of text that will automatically appear at the bottom of any email you send. This should include your name, a one line pitch about your offer, and a link to your blog, web site, or capture page. Every time you send out email, reply to an email, etc… your little signature file is there helping to identify you as an expert in your field.
Discussion Forums
Every industry has its own discussion forums. They can be a great way to get information, tips, and updates on changes within your industry. I highly recommend joining a few of the more active forums for a few reasons:
* You can learn new things.
* You can share some of your own knowledge and experience.
* The Signature. Every discussion forum I participate in allows you to create a signature. Like your Email Signature, this is a few lines of text that will always appear at the bottom of any message you post in the forum.
A few tips on making the most of your discussion forum experience:
Back to the “online party” concept. Imagine being in a room of your peers and/or people interested in your industry. Don’t be the doofus that walks in to the room and yells out, “Hey! Wanna buy my stuff?”. Take time to build your credibility and let people get to know you. Participate in some relevant discussions. Offer insights and your own input.
Don’t just reply with things like, “Good post” or “I agree”. These are just blatant attempts to get your Signature seen and will cause people to quickly begin ignoring your posts or may even cause the Administrator to block you from accessing the forums.
Take your time. Get to know the forums. Let the other members get to know you. Be patient and establish yourself as a credible and professional expert. That’s when the leads start coming to you!
Google AdWords
Google AdWords could easily become an entire lesson in and of itself. But let me just say this: A Google AdWords account is well worth taking the time to learn and use. I don’t bid high dollars for very popular words. Instead, I look for words that are not as popular and can be head for much less than my competitors might spend on popular words. This is called “long tail keywords” and can be very profitable.
Google has some excellent tutorials on their systems and I encourage you to become a student of the Google AdWords system. Then start with a small budget to test your results. As you begin to see solid results, you can use the money from your new sales to increase your budget over time.
Summary
These resources combined with consistent management and running various ads here and there have consistently generate 200+ leads every single month for me. And these are highly targeted and responsive leads.
Don’t be overwhelmed if you are new to any or all of these techniques. Take one at a time and learn it. When you are comfortable with that one, add the next technique. The key is to be consistent and to make sure you take some action each and every day.

How can I get people to notice/like my new website?
I am training to be a beautician in school, so I know a fair bit about hair care, skin care and makeup.
I like to help people when It comes to these things, so i made a website where people can ask me for ideas and advice. I only made it yesterday, so, so far, I only have 6 members. I have posted the link on Facebook and Twitter, but not many people seem to notice.
How can I get more people to notice/like my new website?
www.demmicarroll.webs.com
Thanks
I just had a look, and it looks like you have made a big effort into setting it up, and setting up the categories etc.
One thing that I did pick up on, to make it look a little more professional, is that you need to correct a lot of your spelling errors. Spelling mistakes like "sorbolene" rather than "sorbaline", and be very careful about your use of "yours, and you’re" – you’ve misused these a couple of times on the bits that I’ve read as well. If you proofread everything that you put on there, and make sure you get it right, it will look at lot better.
Next thing, is that it takes time for a website to take-off. You just have to publicise it (Facebook, Twitter, and others that you mention are all good) and then encourage people you have shared it with to share it with their friends.
How can i download facebook and twitter to my samsung rant?
I want to add facebook and twitter to my caroursel, so I can access them quickly.
No you cant.. but you can still go to them using your cell phones built in web browser.

The Tree of Knowledge 3.0
In the beginning, God ( a benevolent dictator) created an idyllic garden for Adam and Eve. He wanted them to be safe and happy forever. He warned them not to eat of the tree of knowledge (milepost 1.0) because it contained the knowledge of good and evil. They ate the apple and gained knowledge. He expelled them from the garden of Eden because that was His law. The benevolent dictatorship ended. Adam and Eve and all of their offspring were subjected to the never-ending conflict between good and evil.Â
Time passed and Tribalism evolved into Feudalism as the primary form of government. That was up until about 570 years ago when Johann Gutenberg perfected the printing press and moved us to the next milepost, The Tree of Knowledge 2.0. His invention made possible the mass availability of the Bible thereby spreading knowledge of good and evil. Other books were also made available that resulted in new ways of thinking and new forms of government including Marxism, Socialism, Fascism and our own representative democracy. The level and complexity of the conflict between good and evil escalated.
Today, with personal computers and the Internet we have arrived at The Tree of Knowledge 3.0.Â
First, look at what is happening on the web. There are about 1.5 billion users on the internet and it is reported to be growing about 18% per year. Statistics vary, but there are over 100 million blogs online and over 77% of internet users read blogs. Today it takes less than 5 minutes and no financial investment to start a blog.
In Gutenbergâs time, printing a book was faster than transcribing but still very time consuming and the number of different books published was limited. Today publishing on line is cheap and fast. It is available to the world at the push of a button because distribution is âdigital.â This truly is The Tree of Knowledge 3.0 and with it, I fear we have ratcheted up the level and complexity of the conflict between good and evil.
It didnât happen overnight. It needed the computer, the internet and the technology of Blogger and Word Press to make it possible. It is being promoted via Social Networking technology such as Twitter, Technorati and others to come. The truth is, we are still on the leading edge of this expansion.
If you donât think it is a Reformation, think again. Look at what is happening around you. Our world is changing very rapidly. Old institutions like newspapers, magazines, the postal service, banking, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler are expiring right before our eyes while the new digital world is flourishing.Â
Even our governments locally and internationally are floundering and with good reason. Socialism has failed every where it has been tried. Representative Democracy is failing because politicians and citizens have learned they can vote benefits for themselves ignoring the good of the whole. The one good thing here is we know that self interest works. How we direct self interest in a positive direction is still to be determined.Â
The Tree of Knowledge 3.0 is the milepost of the New Reformation. Many governments including our own, are trying to prolong the life of the old institutions with bailouts and government regulations. They will lose in this effort because the transformation is inevitable. Our politicians donât get it either. They try to prop up parties and failed solutions with the same old rhetoric.Â
While I canât predict the future, I am convinced that:Â
Individual freedom and voice is more important to people than ever before. Look at the the blogs, YouTube, Twitter, MyFace and the rest of the web.
Specialization drives us towards ever increasing fractionalization in our society. We have moved from broadcasting with 3 major TV channels to narrow casting with 400 channels.
There is something to be said for James Surowieckiâs âThe Wisdom of Crowdsâ.
Hold on tight, we are free falling into an incredibly new and important part of history!

How could a neighborhood use Twitter for crime/safety alerts and prevention?
Looking for specific examples on how neighbors could use a service like Twitter to improve safety/security? For example, send a Tweet if a suspicious person is spotted along with location, etc. Other examples?
Well, since learning that only one person can tweet into a Twitter feed, I guess Twitter is out of the question for this application. If anyone knows of a service that would allow *everyone* on the distribution to contribute, please let us know about it! Thanks!!
setup a twitter account for the neighborhood. Get the neighborhood to follow the account. The only problem is that only one person would be able to post (person who owns the account).
Position yourself to Market!
Besides selecting a solid, grounded, stable company to join in business and a viable, marketable product â the critical or break point in your business will hinge on the depth, span and success of your marketing. Every business requires a steady customer base and methods to generate new customers and business partners.
Today, many people are getting into business more so then ever before, and this is commendable. I applaud you all. The internet as a marketing and communication medium has hastened this process and quickly globalized the marketplace. Thatâs great news for business since our audience is now much, much wider. Over 1.5 billion people on the internet â it a people stampede!
But a business that does not attract a solid customer base will have to dim its lights and go home! So even though you now have access to more people bear in mind the noise on the internet is outrageously loud! There is more information than the human mind can assimilate and process. As such people looking for a product or a business opportunity hop around from website to website. Attention spans are short and people are impatient. Give me! And give me now is the order of the day!
So smart and effective marketing becomes the key to staying in business and remaining profitable. Hence, it should be given a fair share of your time is your business plan. The main reason a business closes its doors would be because it doesnât selling enough product or in the case of network marketers, not being able to attract enough business builders to your opportunity to turn a profit. Hence you quickly run out of steam, huffing and puffing and totally burnt out.
Therefore, a major aspect of your marketing plan has to be on generating leads/prospects to your website, even if you are involved in a conventional brick and mortar business, your web page is a gateway to your business. However, even though the internet is now becoming littered with schemes and âmake you richâ systems on generating traffic so many people are still complaining of lack of quality traffic.
But how do you do that? Where do you find the quality or targeted people?
There is no one method that will deliver a horde of targeted customers who will buy. So letâs establish that quickly, in as much as we would like and hope that there is such a system. Getting people to come to you in business has been always a tricky road, and as such truckloads of books and reports have been written on this topic. With the internet as our marketplace the books are being re-written to incorporate Google ad words, SEO, RSS etc, etc. â all the jargon and techniques.
Bear in mind that even though the marketplace is vast, there are people who are looking for you, for sure. They are looking for a solid company, good product, leadership, systems, short term cash and long term residuals. So if your business will deliver all those goodies then kick-butt marketing will build you an empire.
Should your business be built on hype and a useless questionable product when people can figure it out, your business will not stand the test of time and you need to start looking again for something new.
Marketing costs money. Yes. But there are many free marketing methods online too. So your marketing plan will more than likely be a combination of paid and free. Try free to get the hang of things before you start paying. I have spent loads of cash on learning systems and methods. Some of which was not worth a dime I spent on it. And some worth their weight in gold!
Now how can you tap in to the millions of people visiting the web on a daily basis?
(1) Social networks. There are a huge variety of networks to choose from where you can start making friends and connecting with people. Sta.rtup.biz is a fantastic forum to make connections. Now donât go shoving your opportunity on people. Thereâs certain etiquette to uphold that will keep you in good standing with the crowd. So donât blow it by pitching your business to everyone indiscriminately. Make connections instead, the business will come. Start a group on these networks to attract like minded people. In addition to the many networks available, www.ning.com has a host of social networks to choose from, that could suit your taste. Also you can start your own!
(2) Article writing and article marketing. Not to be underrated at all. Writing an article and getting it out there in as many directories as you can, will certainly increase the awareness of you and your brand. People will you see as a source of information especially if your content is of value. This is an excellent way to back link to your main page and get cozy with the search engines!
(3) Ezine or newsletter. This is a fantastic way to brand you. Even if you are a multilevel marketer and using your generic company site, you can give the most value to your opt ins by sending out an email broadcast every 2 weeks or every week as you see fit, to personally connect with your audience and deliver some good content about your business. Do this even if your company has an auto responder system because it puts you into the spotlight as a leader. Remember, in a sea of opportunity out in cyber space, you need to distinguish yourself. This is a great way to do so.
(4) I will simply jot these down as points for you to bear in mind. Your landing page should not be fancy but needs to hold your potential customerâs interest. Have an opt in that easily visible. Encourage an opt in with something free of value. Your page must have a âcall to actionâ to get people to act with a sense of urgency.
(5) Consider having a front end product to your primary business. Know that a great majority of people going to your site will not purchase or join you in business right away. To capitalize on this traffic, and to earn short term income, marketers are starting to see the value of offering a front end product. Do make this product something of value. If not you may gain a front end product buyer, but the poor quality of that product could destroy the chances of that person joining you in your primary venture, because you have just lost credibility.
And credibility is a critical element of business.
